Have a little faith!

Yes I am still alive and kicking; been so busy that blogging has not featured as high on my to do list.

I'm going to try something different from now on and try to keep the posts short and sweet with plenty of pictures!

I decided last week that I would take some of my handmade goodies into work and create a little display.

A work colleague bought a mouse (the one on the left!) for her niece's birthday.

She loved it but her sister was upset and asked her Auntie for a frog.

A frog!  NO WAY could I make one of those!

One night later.........
She loved it too!!!!!

Just have faith in whatever you do because if you try hard enough you can do it x

School Holidays

We are now into our 4th week of school holidays.  Both me and hubby have been sharing the childcare - although I have drawn the short straw in that, when I'm off work I have both children!

One is 6 (nearly 7 as I have been reminded constantly!) and one is nearly 3.  They want to play together all the time but then seem to fight like cat and dog within 5 minutes.

Needless to say I haven't had much crafting time.  But when I have this is what I have been up to......

Polka peg painting for next sale.....

 A bit of papering.......

and voila!.......

And last but not least I had fun with some PVA glue and old beano comics...

I'm looking forward to a little rest in the caravan next week with a stash of wool and a crochet hook - I'm thinking maybe a new blanket!

Oooops I'm now on a Car Boot Ban

Yep you guessed it Sunday = Car boot.  The Kids were very excited this morning as Granny was coming too!

We got there bright and early and look what came home with us.......
(some lovely thread that I think I can crochet)

(1980's books - I think I can remember them from my youth)

(cute little jelly moulds - these were Granny's find!)

(some old tin dishes - I'm thinking plant pots, maybe a little herb garden for the window sill)

(lovely turquoise wool - maybe Yarndale bunting??????)

(I could not resist - even in it's original box)

(Another flask to go with the picnic stuff and this old flour/icing sugar sifter)

But by far the best find of the day was......

(not sure what all the bits are but there's lots and I can't wait to give it a bit of love and tlc!!!!!)

There were a few more things like a very old rusty key, some vintage material and some old photo frames (crafty project!!!!) but they all be put away!

Needless to say I have now banned myself from the Car boot - that's it until I have done a couple of fairs I am not allowed even a peep!

Happy holidays

Hope you all had a fab Bank Holiday!
Yesterday for a change we did not venture to the car boot! This probably was a good move as the space in our house is slowly dwindling.

Instead we have been trying to get through a few more of the jobs on our house and I'm glad to say that we are finally getting there.  Today we finished a small utility room, sorted the loft, tidied the garden some more and hubby fitted some skirting board to the conservatory.

My youngest stayed at Grandma's and my boy played outside for most of the day so that left a little bit of time for some crafting/revamping to take place.

Enough with the blah blah blah and on with the pictures!

(one of the vintage suitcases I bought at auction 3 weeks ago)

(wit woo all cheery and prettified)

(I found this bag and a matching small vanity case inside the suitcase so stitched a few vintage buttons on the pocket and hey presto!)

Got a few more things to clean and revamp ready for the shumble sale but I'm sure they can have blog posts of their own : )  Hope your bank holiday was as productive as mine.

What a weekend

Again life has been hectic here at number 74.  I just always seem to have a list of endless jobs to do, I don't know about you!  This week its been:-

1. fix the en suite leak
2. buy a new fridge freezer.
3. buy a new kettle
4. get storage for the caravan
5. make some knitted cakes for the fun day
6. make some jewellery
and on .......
    and on ........
       and on .....................

Just lately everything seems to have broken - our fridge freezer decided it wanted to freeze everything in the fridge so when I tried to make butties with rock hard butter I was not a happy bunny!!!! : (
Then the kettle decided it too, wanted to break and then to top it all off we had a leak in the bathroom every time the toilet was flushed.

Despite this we really did have a good weekend - Jake went to stay at his grandma's and I had a little "me" time at a local fun day selling some of my crafts.

It wasn't too busy but the weather stayed fine and that was a bonus as it has been horrible all week.  I had a new addition to the stall this time;

My new knitted cakes, I only ended up making four but they looked soooooooooooooo cute on my homemade cake stand.  Thanks to patchwork chickens for the lovely idea xxxx

Today was a nice "steady away" day, a bit of cleaning and tidying was done followed by some food shopping as diet starts Monday!!!!!  Both kiddies were in bed and asleep by 7pm so I am treating myself to a large glass of wine and a homemade rock cake.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend too : )   I have just made a list for my "jobs for the week" and look forward to filling you in with how I get along especially 4. make courgette cake <3

Happy Holidays

Hellooooooo I just wanted to check in with you all after a little holiday in our new static caravan : )

It was half-term holidays last week so we decided to spend it at Morecambe (only an hour up the road).  We took another boot load of stuff to our little van and it is now starting to feel like it belongs to us!

Whilst the weather was nice we put some bedding plants in some pots for the front of the van so will take some more pictures this weekend so that you can see how pretty it looks.

We also enjoyed ourselves at the beach nearby - the kids have a fascination with crabbing and love to look for goodies in the rock pools.  They managed to fill a bucket with crabs, little fish and shrimps so smiles all round!

I spent most evenings (when the kids were finally in bed) cutting out fabric hearts ready to sew for my stall at a centenary event in 2 weeks and have managed to get them finished this week.

Nothing else really to report - looking forward to tomorrow (Wednesday) as have another viewing on the house and the weekend when we can see our van again.

Anyone got plans for the weekend?

Weekend Wonders

What a busy day and it's only Saturday, thank goodness it's a Bank Holiday.

We have recently sold our little touring caravan and bought a static, so today we had to empty it and give it a clean before taking it to it's new home.  The only problem was all the stuff we had taken out needed to go somewhere (and I can tell you there was lots of Stuff!!!!!!!!).  This "somewhere" ended up being behind the sofa, in the shed, under the kids beds and in the corner of our bedroom - which is not good when you have a viewing tomorrow.  So we found ourselves zooming up the M6 to deposit it all in our very nearly ready static!

I have had quite a productive week too and managed to find some fleece (from Sainsbury's of all places) so that I could put a backing on my ripple baby blanket.  I can't wait to give this to my friend, I just hope she likes it and her little bubba is nice and warm.

In my last post I also mentioned my beads from www.beadcrafty.com and I could not wait to start making things.  This is what happened so I hope people like them and they will take pride of place on my table in June.

This might just be my favourite???????

Or maybe this one???????

What has everyone else been up to? What prices would you be happy to pay for a bracelet?  All thoughts would be welcome!

Have a good bank holiday everyone x x x

I promised!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yes you guessed it I am back, sometimes my brain works so hard I surprise myself.  Here's a post full of craftiness just for putting up with me, I wish you could see how smiley I am : )))))))))

I have fixed it, so so so happy finally I can add pictures to my words and everyone else can see my visions of utter loveliness xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Here is my ripple blanket that I have been nattering on about for the last few posts.  I bought some fleece today so will be stitching a backing on it this weekend and then voila it will be all finished and ready for the little bubba!

Here is my package from beadcrafty.com  - nicely waiting for me when I got in from work.

And here are it's yummy contents - I sooooo can't wait to start playing and making.

In true "Blue Peter" style here's some I made earlier.   Enjoy and I'll come and play again soon

Catching-up

Again I'm not doing very well with this blogging malarky and have slipped out of the habit of nattering with you all.

A few weeks ago I was reading a blog by SleepyJoe in which she sets herself some goals for blogging and I think I really need to take a leaf out of her book and set some of my own.  I seem to find the time to read blogs and comment on facebook but never to write anything of my own!

I am going to make a conscious effort to keep in touch - lets see here's my plan;

  • I promise I will say hello every weekend and show you what I have been crafting (lots and lots of photos)
  • I will also check-in once a week with a short post about life in general and anything good that has been happening.

I am still having massive problems uploading pictures onto here anybody else having problems????? : (

Easter Fair

Woo hoo - Happy Easter everyone!!!!

I have finally got the time to blog and have managed to upload pictures although not by using my computer : ) I hope it's not poorly : (

I may have mentioned it just a few times that I have a stall at a local Arts & Crafts Exhibition for the next 4 days over Easter.  I went to set up on Wednesday evening and was very nervous!  Here is the result - what do you think?????

I did have fun making everything but it took me a long-time and now I worried about whether it will all sell and if it does I will not have anything to go in its space so it will look very bare!

I have also managed to get a couple of private orders for my little rabbits.  I got the pattern from a post on Attic 24 and I think it originally came from a blog called Greedy for Colour.  They are so cute, I just tweaked the original pattern so that they came out slightly smaller and more colourful on their tummy's.

This post is not going to be as long as usual as I'm popping over to the Exhibition to look for a special birthday present x

Have a lovely Easter whatever plans you may have

Happy Sunny Weekend!!!! (Part 2)

Well Sunday was just as sunny as Saturday! So we packed some snacks into a bag and off we went to the Car Boot Sale!  I'm so glad we did because I found lots of lovely knick-knacks for our new house (well my craft room really!).  Here's what I got:-

* Another ceramic chicken - have called this one Peggy.  She now has some eggs in her and is proudly sitting on the counter top!

* Two little glass jugs - I saw some very similar to these in Emma's Apocatheray but wanted to get some that were vintage.  These will look lovely with my novelty buttons and crochet hooks in.

* An old fashioned brown mixing bowl, again I wanted one that had been around a while and used by others.  I saw one recently in an antique shop but it was cracked and the lady still wanted £12 for it, can't believe I got mine for £2 this morning.

* I spotted this white jug on a shelf at the back of the table, it still had a sticker on from the pottery shop where it was made and someone had originally bought it for £11.99, could not believe my luck when the chap only wanted £1.50 for it.  I have wanted one like this for ages and can't wait to put my knitting needles in when I eventually get my craft room : )

* Whilst I was out and about yesterday I also went in to a fabulous shop called The Birdcage which is a charity shop with a difference.  In the window they had some old fashioned bottles filled with buttons, so yes you guessed it!!!!!! I found some for £1 at the car boot this morning and plan on doing the same.  This craft room of mine is going to be jam packed with stuff.

* And last but by no means least.  A beautiful cup and saucer.  Had to have a rummage in an old dirty cardboard box for these but it was well worth it as they have scrubbed up lovely.  These are going to be my new project for the art exhibition so come back in a few days and I'll let you have a peep at what I am going to do with them x

My little boy Jake also managed to get a small guitar - he nevers ceases to amaze me and must be the only one that can go to a car boot sale and come back with things without having to pay for them.  People seem unable to resist his charm and give him things off their stall.  He had lots of fun this afternoon, sitting in the sunshine "busking" for us whilst we cleaned the cars.  Molly my little one also enjoyed the sunshine and I'll leave you with a picture of her with her "ice pop".

I hope you all have a fantastic week and fingers crossed the weekend to come will be as sunny as this one.  Hmmmmm what else do I need from the car boot! : ) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A Lazy Day!!!!

Well I haven't posted in a while - I have been meaning to, but things have just got in the way and then another day has passed!

We had our first viewing last week after a couple of time wasters.  It went really well and they really liked the house but not the electric pylon nearby so still no movement.

I have also made some progress on those dreaded unfinished projects that I hide behind the sofa!  I have managed to finish the scarf, mug cozy and ribbon blanket so feeling quite pleased with myself.

I had the day off today and had lots of good intentions - I planned on doing some cleaning, crafting and others bits and bobs - but you know what, I started reading a book by M.C Beaton- As the pig turns, and that was most of the morning gone!

I did do some crafting this afternoon and spent an hour making some lovely easter gifts ready for my table at the craft fair.

What do you think????  I could only seem to find a bunny one that was knitted, have never used circular needles before and am totally clueless about making stitches in the front and back!!!!! So I made my own pattern and this is how it turned out.  Have already got a list of people that would like some so might be busy for the next couple of days.

I also managed to make another ribbon blankie, this time using this wonderful fabric which I love!

I hope everyone is well and busy with their own projects; I would love to know what people are currently working on.

Ah distractions

My last blog mentioned all my unfinished projects  - which between you and me I tend to put in a carrier bag and hide behind the sofa, out of sight, out of mind!!!!!

This to be honest doesn't really work - I know they are there, just waiting for me to finish them - I know that I have a scarf, a chunky ripple, a blankie with no bunny head, a half done mug cozy, a dino taggie and another ripple for a new baby (my friend still has 20 wk to go) and thats just the things I have started, not the things that I want to do.

I also decided that I needed to have a look in my diary as I am hoping to have a stall at a local art exhibition before Easter.  Last time I checked I had 11 weeks to craft, crochet and sew!!!! Lots of time I told myself!!!!  Yeah right,  now its 6 weeks - (Aaargh - I panic and have to check again whilst running round the room like a headless chicken seeing what I've already completed).

Just to take my mind of it I had a little peep at pinterest - wow how fab but totally addictive.  I found lots of new ideas and one popped out from ohcrafts.net, I could not resist having a little go -

add some cotton and buttons and voila some recycled mini heart bunting perfect for adding a splash of "cuteness"

I couldn't stop once I started and made some that were just pinks and reds and some that had a number of buttons.  Once again I had become sidetracked and my WIP (think thats work in progress) still lives behind the sofa.   I must! I must! tackle at least one of these this week - will let you know how it goes!   Hope you have a productive week, I would love to know what you are planning to do x x x

Ahhh just remembered I have done something towards my WIP - I had a trip to Keighley to get some wool for my chunky ripple as I had run out!!!!!! There I knew I had done something; not that I have unwrapped this yet but instead have shoved it in the pantry cupboard!!!!!
